to Bollybood actor and the younger son of
film star Dharmendra.The suave and shy actor
was greatly impressed by the brisk film and
television production activity in the Noida
Film City.He evinced keen interest in the
work being done by Prof. Sandeep Marwah in
the field of media education and enquired
about the training infrastructure available
at the academy.Later talking informally to
the students, Bobby Deol said that sincerity,
truthfulness and naturalism play important
role in the film actor s work.He pointed
out that the very nature of his work places
the actor under a physical and psychic scrutiny
that is very rare in ordinary life and , therefore,
acting is indeed both challenging and demanding.Bobby
Deol promised all possible support to the
people trained by this academy. |

Film City Attracts-Kamal Hassan
The
versatile actor of contemporary Indian Cinema,
Outstanding director and master of film art
and craft Kamal Hassan chose Marwah Studios
at Noida Film city to shoot few important
sequences to give finishing touches to his
latest Film ABHAY which is now
almost ready for release.Raveena Tandon and
Manisha Koirala have also been cast in this
film.Playing host to this creative genius,Prof
Sandeep Marwah briefed him about the work
being done by AAFT in the field of media education
and training. ABHAY is the screen
adaptation of Kamal Hassan s novel of
the same name.The theme of almost all film
made by him is the man s sufferings
and his struggle to alleviate the same.Unlike
superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan
is not a prisoner of his image and is reputed
for artistic expressions which eminently match
the taste,need and intellect of the average
viewer.This quality has made him an outstanding
filmmaker which is amply, proved by the fact
that his films are used by several international
film schools as teaching material. |

Statesman At AAFT
Formally
inaugurating the thirty first session of AAFT,one
of the few living and the greatest freedom
fighters; Statesman; former union minister,
governor of at least seven states, and chancellor
of twenty four universities; Dr Bishma Narain
Singh said that the success of any activity
including making of a film depends on how
well as it has been planned .Sharing his lifetime
experiences Dr Singh mentioned that sincerity,
dedication and hard work are the keys to success
of every human endeavour .Addressing the students
Ms. Suparna Dewan Trikha who has spent many
years in the research and development of ayurvedic
beauty care products, said that the general
impression that only the actors are required
to take care of their health and appearance,
is incorrect.She pointed out that the stress
and strain of modern day life adversely affects
everyone and in order to look presentable,
every individual and specially those who are
in the show bussiness have to take care of
their skin, hair, weight and general health.Speaking
on this occasion Mr. Association, exhorted
the film and television professionals to try
and bring about unity amongst the people of
diverse culture ,languages and religious faith
through their work of art.earlier paying rich
tributes to academy headed by Prof. Sandeep
Marwah, the up and coming television Writer/Director
Amit agrawal attributed his success in the
industry to the excellent education and training
he training he had received at Asian Academy

Making Waves In Film Music
The
rising stars in the firmament of Indian film
music Dr Daya Shankar Gupta and Shri Bhagwan
Kaushik - were invited by Prof. Sandeep Marwah
Director, Asian Academy of Film & Television
to meet with the students while the inseparable
musical prodigies were in the Film City for
a recording.The two popular and much decorated
music directors have so far cut over fifty
music albums and scored music for a very large
number of feature films,documentaries, tele-films
and television serials.Addressing the students
Shankar- Shri gave valuable tips about composing
music for films and television presentations,
driving home their points by actual demonstration.Dr
Gupta said that currently the industry offered
unprecedented and tremendous opportunity to
the creative artists and he hoped to work
together with some of those who were present
the auditorium.The meeting was indeed a rare
education and training opportunity for the
students of cinema who requested the two creative
genius to come to the academy again and again. |

Is Impossible To A Willing Mind Adeep Tandon
The
world renowned director of cinematography
Adeep Tandon said that single minded devotion
to the pursuit of excellence in every department
of film making is essential for surviving
in this highly competitive industry.He stated
that while it may not be impossible to reach
to the top, it is indeed difficult to remain
there for a reasonable length of time.Pointing
out that there is not short cut to success
,he cited the example of Hrithik Roshan who
has worked his way to fame by sheer dint of
hardwork.Adeep Tandon was addressing the students
of Asian Academy of Film & Television.Earlier
formally introducing the distinguished visitor
to the students, Prof Sandeep Marwah mentioned
that Adeep Tandon had teamed up with celebrities
like Vijay Anand ,Mahesh Bhatt,Ismail merchant,
Basu Bhattacharya, Subroto Mitra,Aparna Sen
and he has been associated with the production
of numerous feature films, docummentaries,
advertisement films and television serials
both in India and the USA, eversince he graduated
from FTII pune in1968.He said that Adeep Tandon
is currently working with the evergreen hero
and filmmaker Dev Anand whose latest film
Censor has just been released.Adeep Tandon
is currently shooting two of Dev Anands film
entitled LoveI in Time Square
and Beauty Queen . Answering
questions he said that film making is invariably
team effort and the contribution of those
who are behind the camera is as important
as of those who are front of it, in this .
Pointing out that the technological development
have considerably influenced the film production
scene, he underlined the importance of formal
training in film making. |

Awards Honorary Degree To AAFT Director
Prof.
Sandeep Marwah was given standing ovation
when Dr. H.K. Singh, Director of renowned
Jalandhar based Management & Industrial
Development Institute(MIDI)announced that
the academic council of the Institute has
resolved to award Honorary Degree in management
to the former for his outstanding contribution
to media education and training.Dr. H.K. Singh
mentioned that this degree will be formally
awarded to Prof. Sandeep Marwah during the
forthcoming Convocation of the Institute.Addressing
the students the Director of MIDI said the
general impression that the management training
is only for the bussiness is incorrect.As
a matter of fact management is essential for
effectively handling any human activity including
running of household by the lady of the house.Gratefully
accepting the rare honour bestowed upon him
by MIDI Prof. Sandeep Marwah pointed out that
production management is indeed an important
component of education and training at the
Film schools all over the World.He mentioned
that management of the production work is
very important in the making of a film or
a television presentation. Mismanagement of
activities result in delay in the completion
of the production work as well as wastage
of funds.Good Management Prof. Sandeep Marwah,
added, is important even to the actors. |

Of Indi-Pops At AAFT
Talented,
suave and extremely handsome composer of Indian
Pop-Music Jawahar Wattal visited Asian Academy
of Film & Television.He Exchanged views
on the current music scene in the country
with the Director of the academy Prof. Sandeep
Marwah. Jawahar Wattal had composed the music
of Baba Sehgal s memorable Dhildhadke
and since then he has not looked back. He
lamented that the unsatiable satellite television
channels compel the composers to produce
instant-music and which naturally affects
the quality of their work.He felt that the
production of music and the music videos for
the numerous music television channels need
to be supported by the subject matter experts.He
was of the view that world renowned AAFT may
take initiative in this matter and assured
his full support to Prof. Sandeep Marwah in
his work . |

African
Film Industry Is Undeveloped
Strange
as it may seem the Africans-nationals with
the exception of South Africans, have not
yet started making films.The members of the
elite group of the heads of African Missions
in India have now decided to take necessary
steps to correct this situation. The chairman
of this group recently requested the outgoing
high commissioner of Uganda in India Mr. Joseph
Tomusange, to get in touch with the Director
of the World renowned Asian Academy Of Film
& Television Prof. Sandeep Marwah for
seeking his guidance in film-making in various
counteries of Africa. The hon ble high
commissioner of Uganda in India visited Marwah
Studios to examine this facility and to hold
discussions with Prof. Sandeep Marwah. Later
addressing the students of Asian Academy Of
Film & Television Mr Joseph Tomusange
lamented that Africans are missing the opportunity
of using the powerful medium of films &
television for building happy , sane and prosperous
society.he said that Uganda is called the
Pearl Of Africa . Describing
his country as small but beautiful, he said
that Uganda offers excellent locales for the
films and television programmes .The high
commissioner mentioned that the Indian had
been helping in the the development of uganda
eversince the eighteenth century.He added
that india ranks third amongst his country
s bussiness partners. Answering questions
put to him by the students he confirmed that
Indian films are popular in Uganda. Mr. Joseph
Tomusange hoped that Asian Academy of Film
& Television would soon reach out to the
African countries in a big way and help their
nationals to get into making of films. The
elite group of the heads of African Missions
in India would be continuing the dialogue
on this subject in right earnest. |

Workshop
On Acting & Presentation For Children
On
popular demand AAFT conducted yet another
workshop on Acting & Presentation for
school students.Twenty young participants
of the workshop-all girls-learnt how films
are made and television programmers produced.The
trainers worked on the voice and speech of
the participants and helped them to learn
to make use of the body language for communicating
messages.The performance of the participants
was recorded using professional grade equipment
by the students of AAFT in Marwah Studios.Prof.
Sandeep Marwah posed for a group photograph

Anil
Kapoor Visits AAFT
This
year s winner of national award for
best acting, the Superstar Anil Kapoor took
time off his busy shooting schedule at Delhi
to come to Asian Academy of Film & Television.Fresh
faced with youthful looks ,slim and trim Anil
Kappor has so far acted in more than eighty
feature films since 1979.Anil Kapoor is indeed
a gifted, creative , sophisticated, large
hearted, worldlywise and an extremely private
person.A matured actor who has played flippant
to serious and challenging roles with perfect
ease, has taken great pains to stay out of
gossip mags.Anil Kapoor watchers attribute
his career longevity and unprecedented success
in the industry to a mix of passion for acting
, hardwork, intelligence, instinct for survival
and above all total commitment to the films.The
national recognition of this down to earth
superstar does not seem to have turned his
head.Anil Kappor is deeply concerned about
the pathetic condition of the rural masses
and he is of the view that the power of films
can be effectively used to build a happy,
healthy and sane society.He also strongly
believes that properly trained professionals
are required for making responsive and responsible
cinema.It is for these reasons that Anil Kapoor
had agreed to be on the Board of Directors.Reviewing
the training opportunities currently offered
by this academy, he told Prof. Sandeep Marwah
about the strong presence of and the good
work being done by the AAFT alumni in the
industry at Mumbai.Formally releasing the
new prospectus of AAFT, he hoped that the
day is not far away when the national award
for outstanding contribution to media education
will be bestowed upon Asian Academy of Film
