gesture Oxford Business College of the
UK honored Sandeep
Marwah by the award of their prestigious
Masters
of Business Administration degree. A
special
convocation was held last week in the world
renowned city of learning Oxford to
honor him in
person. Conferring the degree Stanley
Hunter of
the Oxford Business College complimented
Sandeep Marwah for taking large step
in atisfying a central human interest
of empowerment to profess a vocation
in life. Asian School of Media Studies
and Asian Academy of film and television
set up by Sandeep Marwah have indeed
become favored destinations for the
aspirants of a career in the media industries,
he added. Speaking on this occasion Sandeep Marwah remarked than an entirely
new and sound Indo-British relationship
based on mutual respect is fast emerging

Laura
Bush Visits Film City
After attending a ceremonial reception
with cavalry soldiers, a gunsalute and
a military honor guard for President
Bush at New Delhi'spresidential palace,
Mrs. Bush was to break away from the
presidentialentourage. It is her first
visit to India.
Her first stop is Film City, an enclave
of television studios in New Delhi's
eastern suburb of Noida,where Mrs.
Bush took part in a shootof "Galli
Galli Sim Sim," an Indian take
on the hugely popular puppetshow.
The episode is expected to reach an
estimated 40 millionhouseholds when
it airs in the coming months.
Briefing the press Sandeep Marwah
Spokesperson of Noida Film City saidthat
the show is centered on Chamki, a
girl who lives by herself on anarrow
street with her friends, and is partly
funded by the U.S.
government and It is aimed at India's
157 million children under age 6.

Launches The First Portal Of Indian Short
Films
The
heart throb of millions superstar Sridevi
added a chapter to the history of cinema by
formally launching the first ever Portal of
Indian short films at a glittering function
held in Noida Film City - a hub of the satellite
TV news channels of the nation. Close to a
hundred out of 1022 short films of the movie
directors hailing from 56 countries across
the world and produced by Marwah Films and
Video productions, have so far been included
in this portal. These up and coming directors
and the creative members of their team had
been trained at the now world famous Asian
Academy of film & TV. This historic event
- a proud moment for the President of Marwah
Films and Video Production Sandeep Marwah
- coincided with the ongoing celebrations
of the golden jubilee session of Asian Academy
of Film & TV of which he is the founder
director. Addressing the huge gathering at
the function of President of the Film Federation
of India Boney Kapoor said the production
of a record number of short films is unparalled
in the annals of world cinema. Answering questions
put to him he said the subject matter of any
commercial film is carefully selected to suit
the need and the taste of the audience. Speaking
on this occasion the President of the Portal
nuurriefilms Kishur Agarwal said that the
technological marvel internet the most potent
medium of mass communication in the 21st century,
offers tremendous opportunities to the creative
people to showcase their work as well as to
do business. His business house would soon
be launching a 24x7 satellite entertainment
TV channel, Kishur Agaral added. Dy. CEO of
Noida Tanvir Zafar Ali also shared his thoughts
with the audience on this occasion.

Maheshwari in Star One's India Calling
Student of acting and presentation
Kanika
Maheshwari will soon be seen matching her
histrionics skills with the likes of Rohit
Roy, Kiran Kumar and Amarr Upadhay in Ravi
Chopra's Viraasat.Kanika who plays Amy in
Star One's India Calling will play Juhi who
is the grand-daughter of Raman Lamba (Kiran
Kumar) who is the family patriarch. "The
character has shades of grey...she reacts
to different situations differently,"
says Kanika, who seems very excited about
being part of such a huge show.
The actor has been shooting for the show for
three days now and the experience, she says
has been great. "They are so cooperative.
In the beginning I thought that I was lucky
to be on the show, but as I started shooting
I realised that I needed to get better and
learn more in order to improve my performance,"
points out Kanika, who was chosen out of more
than 60 girls, including known faces in the
industry...

PAINTINGS
REFLECT PERSONAL FEELINGS OF THE ARTIST -
FRIDA STEINBERGER
The
renowned artist and ceramic sculpturist of
Israel Frida Steinberger said that paintings
and sculptures hide a song in their depth
and most of the time it remains embedded in
shapes, forms, geometrics, lines and colours
on the ceramics, stones and canvas. She along
with six other artists from Israel were holding
a workshop in art and culture at Asian Academy
of Film & Television. Describing Israel
as a country of immigrants, the curator of
Israel's International Artists' Museum and
a theatre artist mentioned that 4000 years
of Jewish heritage and 50 years of modern
statehood have contributed to the distinct
culture of Israel. Director of Asian Academy
of Film & Television Sandeep Marwah pointed
out that paintings indeed help the filmmakers
to understand how to make their screen presentations
a treat for the eyes. He disclosed that a
film on Indo-Israeli art will be produced
by this group under the banner of Marwah Films
& Video Production. Uri Daniel De Beer,
Norma Drimmer, Jacob Hai MacMillan, Sully
B. Wolff and Rajul Mehta of Indian descent
were also in the group. On this occasion Doron
Polak was made the life member of the International
Film & Television Club.

FILMMAKER IS PRODUCT OF A FILM SCHOOL - AMITANSHU
DAS
Former
director of the world renowned Tisch School
of the Arts, New York University Amitanshu
Das asserted that learning relevant skills
is necessary before embarking on filmmaking
or television production work. He was invited
to Asian Academy of Film & Television
by its director Sandeep Marwah. After going
through the courseware for various training
programmes being offered by the academy and
interacting with the student the American
academic of Indian origin mentioned that it
is no wonder that Asian Academy of Film &
Television is the preferred destination of
the nationals of many countries of the world.
Prof. Das assured of his full support to the
film school. Later Prof. Amitanshu Das who
is currently the Director, School of Education
University of Pennsylvania accepted the life
membership of International Film & Television
Research Centre of the academy.

IS A SOCIAL SERVICE TOO - MADHAV KANT MISHRA
Analyzing
the contemporary television scene in India,
the veteran journalist and intellectual Madhav
Kant Mishra said that rank commercialization
has distorted this powerful medium of mass
communication. He was delivering the valedictory
at Asian Academy of Film & Television.
Single minded devotion, a strong will to succeed
and self reliance and important to achieving
the desired goal in life, he added. Prof.
Sandeep Marwah mentioned on this occasion
that the fiftieth golden jubilee session of
this thirteen year old academy is stated to
commence in the first week of January 2006.
Addressing the gathering, the former Indian
ambassador to many countries B.P. Agarwal
said that socially responsible makers of the
media products must ensure that in their work
the baser emotions of the people are kept
under check and they are shielded from unethical
temptations. Another speaker the well known
social worker of the national capital region
A.C. Peter urged the outgoing students to
keep in mind that they have to help the humanity
while doing their professional work.

FILM DIRECTOR AT ASIAN ACADEMY OF FILM &
TELEVISION 
The Embassy of the USA
selected Asian Academy of Film & Television
for showcasing the film of the renowned American
film director Aviva Kempner who is currently
visiting India as a Cultural Ambassador. Thanking
Prof. Sandeep Marwah for arranging interaction
of Aviva Kempner with the film and television
professionals in the making, S Tovan McDaniel
of said that the Embassy of the USA is looking
forward to working with the academy in future
as well. After the screening of her highly
acclaimed documentary 'The Life and Times
of Hank Greenberg' Aviva Kempner answered
a number of questions about the film, her
experiences and film that she has directed
and the documentary filmmaking scene in the
USA. This unique documentary film is a biographical
sketch of the ace baseball player Hank Greenberg. |
